Some of the resources you need to run an election are contained in this document. Don't forget to let your voters know the date of your election.
Schools are able to purchase election packs which consist of a voting screen, ballot box and vests for polling officials and scrutineers. The cost is approximately $55 + postage. Please contact ECQ for more details.
Enrol to vote
Once you are 16 years or older, you can enrol to vote online for Queensland local council and state elections. People between the age of 16 and 18 can have their details recorded “provisionally” on the electoral roll, which means you will automatically be registered to vote on your 18th birthday. In Australia it is compulsory to vote when you legally become an adult, from age 18, otherwise you will receive a fine.
